My best blogs

Greetings! Sorry for neglecting the blog yesterday -- I was busy at work and then busy at home making these delicious treats for a friend's birthday party that I'm hosting tonight. Can't wait to eat them!

Today I thought I'd share a little blog love and let any of you readers out there in on what my favorite blogs have been as I've been planning and searching online for ideas (and just for shits and giggles, as they say). Some are the usual blogroll suspects, some may not be. Hopefully you'll find a new corner of the interwebs in which to poke around! Here we go...

Our Blog of Love
This is the blog of Our Labor of Love, the brilliant visionaries and wonderful people who will be shooting our wedding next May. I could not be more excited about them! The blog has been a little Smilebooth-heavy of late, but now that summer and vacations are over, Jesse writes that she has lots of wedding posts to catch up on. Bring 'em on.

Picture this: Davina + Daniel = wedding
The subhead says it all: "A wedding photographer's journey to the aisle." This is another photographer's blog, but with a twist: Davina is planning her own 2011 wedding to Daniel, the other half of her photography business, and this blog is a chronicle of that process. Super interesting! To see more of their stunning work, check out Davina and Daniel's website.

Lake Jane
I'm not sure which came first for me, Davina + Daniel or Lake Jane. At any rate, Marie-Eve of Lake Jane just got hitched in August and Davina was her photographer. Both live in Montreal -- maybe it's a sign we should honeymoon there! Marie-Eve's wedding was both beautiful and inspiring, but the blog isn't wedding-centric -- she posts daily about design, food, decorating, and generally lovely things.

Beast Pieces
The blog of letterpress masters Studio On Fire. They do amazing things with paper, ink and old machinery. Basically, I want to be them.

Oh So Beautiful Paper
While we're on the topic of paper, I can't not mention this blog that celebrates all things paper. Gorgeous wedding invitations (achieved through various processes, not just letterpress), calendars, stationery, posters, calling cards, you name it. There's probably some origami on there too. Oh, and Nole, the proprietress of this blog, does lovely giveaways. I just won a sweet 2010 calendar!

Daily Drop Cap
Daily Drop Cap is a project of typographer and illustrator Jessica Hische. I'm actually using one of her new fonts, Buttermilk, on my wedding invitations! The best part about the daily drop cap is that you're free to use them for your blog or any other non-commercial endeavor. Wahoo!

Snippet & Ink
Kathryn of Snippet & Ink apparently grew up down the street from one of my bridesmaids/best friends from college. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, she probably didn't invent the ubiquitous "inspiration board," but she is surely the perfecter of the form.

Style Me Pretty
This is like wedding blog central command, or your daily overdose of wedding design awesomeness/ridiculousness. There are at least four new posts every day, each of them full of beautiful photographs. They recently launched the Style Circle, an online community for brides-to-be/wedding obsessors, which has a handy inspiration board tool.

Once Wed
This website started as a listing service for brides looking to sell their used (or extra) wedding dresses and has rapidly grown into another wedding-junkie paradise, similar to Style Me Pretty. Emily, who runs it, lives in Atlanta -- ATL represent! They also post many times a day and showcase excellent DIY projects from awesome folks like Anna Bond at Rifle Paper Co.

Speaking of Anna Bond, she makes the loveliest illustrated invitations. That's pretty much all you need to know about her.

We Met in a Bar
Until recently, this blog was all about wedding stuff... and then the girl writing it got married, so now it's more focused on homey things. Still, I loved her wedding -- especially her hairdo for the big day! So pretty! Check her archives for wedding stuff and stick around for some musings on apartments and design and whatnot.

This blog is totally comprehensive and wonderful in every way. They write about furniture, accessories, flowers, art, indie crafts, paper goods, ceramics, textiles, etc. etc. etc. Editor Grace Bonney got married in the spring and was just featured in the latest Martha Stewart Weddings, but even if you have zero interest in the world of weddings, d*s has something for you. The before & after section is not to be missed!

Alright, that's it for now. Have at it!
